STANDARDS

Standards define what 'good' looks like.

National and international standards are a central part of the curricular developed at TEMPO. Consensus based standards such as those published by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) provide a clear perspective on 'what good looks like'.

Standards have a variety of benefits when used to guide action and investment, including:

  • helping build shared purpose

  • establishing a common understanding

  • clarifying requirements for procurement

  • enabling systems integration

  • building trade and investment opportunities

  • promoting privacy, security and interoperability

  • accelerating scalability

SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES AND SMART INFRASTRUCTURE

The ISO 37100 series of standards support an organisations efforts to advance their sustainability goals. TEMPO embraces these strategic guidance documents within its education content, with specific alignment to:

  • ISO 37105:2019 Sustainable cities and communities - Descriptive framework for cities and communities

  • ISO 37106:2021 Sustainable cities and communities - Guidance on establishing smart cities operating models for sustainable communities

  • ISO 37120:2018 Sustainable cities and communities - Indicators for city services and quality of life

  • ISO/TR 37121:2017 Sustainable development in communities - Inventory of existing guidelines and approaches on sustainable development and resilience in cities

  • ISO 37122:2019 Sustainable cities and communities - Indicators for smart cities

  • ISO/TR 37152 Smart community infrastructures - Common framework for development and operation,

  • ISO 21542 Building construction - Accessibility and usability of the built environment

DIGITAL TWINS

Under the stewardship of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41 Internet of things and digital twin Technical Committee, four signature digital twin standards are emerging, namely:

  • ISO/IEC AWI 30172 Digital Twin — Use cases

  • ISO/IEC AWI 30173 Digital twin — Concepts and terminology

  • PWI JTC1-SC41-5 ED1 Digital Twin - Reference architecture

  • PWI JTC1-SC41-7 Digital Twin – Maturity model

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING

The 19650 suite of standards set the global benchmark for Building Information Modelling (BIM) practices, supporting an industry on the cusp of wide spread digital transformation. The foundational standard set includes:

  • ISO 19650-1:2018 Organisation and digitisation of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) — Information management using Building Information Modelling — Part 1: Concepts and principles

  • ISO 19650-2:2018 Organisation and digitisation of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) — Information management using Building Information Modelling — Part 2: Delivery phase of the assets

  • ISO 19650-3:2020 Organisation and digitisation of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) — Information management using Building Information Modelling — Part 3: Operational phase of the assets

  • ISO 19650-5:2020 Organisation and digitisation of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) — Information management using Building Information Modelling — Part 5: Security minded-approach to information

DATA LEADERSHIP

We promote the concept of data leadership at TEMPO, meaning that organisations keen to build their digital capability start with the foundations around treating data as a valueble asset to be cared for. This includes respecting privacy, embedded security and ensuring ethics, governance and clear purpose are front and centre. Some of the key standards we support and embed in our learning program include:

  • ISO/IEC 30182 Smart city concept model – Guidance for establishing a model for data interoperability

  • ISO/IEC AWI 30149 Internet of things (IOT) — Trustworthiness framework [UNDER DEVELOPMENT]

  • ISO/IEC 30161:2020 Internet of things (IOT) — Requirements of IOT data exchange platforms for various IOT services
